You have too many conflicting desires
the diagnosis lay there flat
and heavy like a steady rain
i told him i know that.
He said well you need narrow
and i'm glad he knows it all
but i smashed the only clock
that he had hanging on his wall,
he looked at me surprised and shocked,
i told him i don't care,
i stormed out the door that evening
and told him don't you dare
follow me into the fog
or i will cut you down,
this isn't just your father's house,
yea, this is my home town,
i think he finally knew
in that moment i was certain,
so i watched his shadow dancing there
behind the window curtain,
i put all conflicting conflicts
in the case of my guitar
and i stuck a thumb out tall and
proud and climbed in the next car,
i left him in that little town
to pick up all my slack,
grabbed hold of my desires
and i'm never looking back.
