if only he knew
how much of myself that i see in him
the hope, the sadness, the independence, the hostility
hidden in the hollow recesses
of such an intricate mind
and a compassionate heart
if only he knew
that each word he speaks holds my ears
and each step he takes
either strengthens or breaks
my heart
if only he knew
how much i would give
to see him unharmed
to know he is happy
to lead him to truth
if only he knew
i love him with all
of my heart
